FW: [FutureBeef] March update out now!

Hi julie

Using drones, robotics and new technologies is the focus for school students participating in this year's Department of Agriculture and Fisheries School Science Competition. The theme is Game of Drones and entries close 29 June 2018. Register your interest.
Are you bogged, mate? is a great read by Mary O'Brien. She's raising awareness about blokes, mental health and depression in the bush.

There is a lot happening across the north this month. If you want to know what's on in your area, check out the events calendar for more information.

Send us your feedback and suggestions via email, call us on 13 25 23 (for the cost of a local call in Queensland), connect with us on Facebook and Twitter or check us out on YouTube. We'd love to hear from you...

Happy reading!

New look Long Paddock website

The Long Paddock website has a new look! It was launched last week, and with greatly improved functionality, it's now even easier for you to access climate and pasture information to assist in grazing land management decisions. You also have FREE online access to customised property reports with seasonal climate outlooks, simulated pasture growth  and satellite-derived ground cover and tree cover maps available. The revamp is part of the Drought and Climate Adaptation Program (DCAP) initiative to improve drought preparedness and resilience for Queensland producers.

Grazing BMP accelerated workshop proves a hit with local producers

Last month, 20 local producers from Charters Towers attended a two-day accelerated Grazing BMP workshop. Covering all five modules of the program in two days, the accelerated format allows producers to complete their self-assessment while accessing up-to-date technical information across a range of topics. Jo Gangemi, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries event organiser, shares some workshop highlights.

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries has produced an interactive weed map database. This new tool shows users where weeds are distributed across Queensland and displays photos of individual weeds with links to the weed factsheet.
