Danie and his brother Johan Strauss are the proud owners of the Rietkuil Boer Goat Stud, 959.
Handed down from their parents, the stud has been operating for almost 30 years. The Rietkuil Boer Goat Studs principles are, to breed for correctness, balance, and animals that carry lots of meat and are good on their legs. The Bucks to be muscular, does to be feminine. The stud has done well over the past few years, having bred the current World Junior Champion Buck, which was also the World Reserve Grand Champion Buck.
The Breeders workshop will involve a theory session to start the day before heading out to work with the goats. The group will actively work with the animals, learning how apply the Breed Standard and the knowledge required to select sound animals for breeding. Dr Tess Bailey of Lachlan Valley Vets will attend and answer all your goat health questions The workshop is suited to new or prospective breeders as well as the more experienced. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions
